Create an individual and original look of your own with NUTSHELL Colour washes and glazes.

These specialist yet easy to use products are used to put a layer of pigment onto walls and other previously painted surfaces. Decorative effects are possible by allowing brush marks to remain visible or by using by a roller, rag or sponge to achieve a textured finish. This "broken colour effect" is a useful way of achieving stronger colours. When pigments are mixed into white paint they will be lighter than when they are in a clear medium.

Instead of mixing pigment into a paint for a tinted opaque colour, with NUTSHELL Colour Washes and Glazes, pigment is applied directly onto a surface. These products are clear and bind the pigment to the surface.

Colour Wash Medium (Clear)

Used in conjunction with NUTSHELL Earth & Mineral Pigments, NUTSHELL Colour Wash Medium can create truly artistic washes.

This product is a concentrated water based mixture of plant ingredients and can be diluted to five times its volume with water. It is ideal for making subtle to strong colours by adding more or less pigment and may be applied in layers of different strengths and/or different colours. It also provides a harder wearing finish on top of NUTSHELL Casein Emulsion or NUTSHELL Super Eco Emulsion.
